Hello World

Hello blogging world! My Name is Edgar, but you can call me Eddie. My life can be summed up in three words I LOVE MUSIC. When I wake up in the morning the first thing I think about is Music. When I am eating my Lucky Charms in soy milk at 10am in the morning I am thinking about music. When I am with my wife for a nice dinner I am thinking... well you get the point.

Because of my love for music I am sitting here on my couch writing this blog. This will be the start to a series of blogs. I am writing these blogs so I can rant and rave about the music industry, bands, concerts, and anything else I feel like rambling on about, but mostly about music business.

The first thing that comes to my head to talk about today is the term "sell out". Wow growing up in the punk rock scene in the late 90's I heard this term about once a second. By the time I was 20 I thought that unless you were living in a old abandoned shack on the upper east side and eating food out of Taco Bells dumpster you were a sell out. Now that I am pushing 30, yes I am getting old, I think this is ridiculous. Sell out is so over used, mostly by bands that are quite honestly horrible and are trying to make up for their musical insecurities.

Even if it were a bad thing to decided to make a living playing music, and use the system to your advantage rather than against it, why does everyone have to hate on a band once they have become successful? I just don't understand it.

For the love of music.... please stop calling bands you are jealous of sell outs!
